Medical Diagnosis
Medical Diagnosis is the art of determining a person’s pathological status from an available set of findings. It does, however, require an integration of results from most of the many sub-disciplines of information processing, called an art because it is a problem complicated by many and manifold factors, and its solution involves literally all of a human’s abilities including intuition and the subconscious.
Medical diagnosis is difficult to represent in an algorithmic model. Not only does medical diagnosing require the understanding of symptoms, drug-drug interactions, and patient history, but also the diagnosing process requires knowledge of diseases in general as well as the general population. Furthermore, the medical diagnosis algorithms have to be updateable to constant changes that accompany the scientific development that is a result of the extensive research within the medical field. Also, they would have to be able to utilize varying levels of data in order to diagnose an individual.
